The Pagman

ABOUT ME

Having taught in England for 2 years in the 90s I ventured abroad and taught in Thailand and Kuwait (NES) before returning to teach at King Edward’s School Bath for 10 years. I moved to Norfolk in 2011 to be Head of Physics.

More recently I have combined my teaching with working for OCR going into other schools to advise them on their Practical Endorsement course.

I left the classroom after 25 years in 2021 to focus on online tutoring but have also spent time leading courses teaching teachers to teach, writing chapters for the new Cambridge University Press International A Level book (Published Dec 2023) and advising schools how to improve the A level Practical endorsement delivery.

My approach is exam question focussed, but due to the ‘fun’ nature my students learn ‘accidentally’, often not realising they have learnt it – i.e. subtle techniques and my engaging manner mean that theory is almost learnt by osmosis.

Why ‘thepagman’?

The Practical Activity Groups are used in the A level Practical Endorsement for OCR, shortened to PAGs, hence the pagman!
